How to Have a Successful Event

So your first event is live - how do you welcome new neighbors?

  1. Order Name Tags - each time you host an event, if you give everyone name tags to wear, they will be more likely to be friendly with each other, remember names, and create connections that will transcend beyond the hours of the event
  2. Send Out A Reminder Message - to your neighbors the day before the event, the day of the event, and during the event to remind everyone that it is happening.
  3. Ask Attendees to Bring a Friend - if the budget allows for it, invite your building-mates to bring a friend along either from within or from outside of the building. This way, they will be more likely to attend themselves if they are joined by someone they feel comfortable with, and will also bring more people into the mix - which is always a good thing!
  4. Introduce Neighbors - as the Super Neighbor, you are more likely to know the attendees at the event. If there are neighbors that come along that you are familiar with, introduce them to others that you feel they might get along with because of their interests, floor, or other shared qualities. This way, you are making intentional connections that could flourish into a conversation.
  5. No Neighbor Left Alone - if you see a neighbor with no one to talk to, take the situation into your own hands and either go over and talk to them yourself or introduce them to someone else. As the host, always have your eyes open and ears peeled.
  6. Follow Up - after the event is over, send attendees a message, thanking them for coming and reach out to them directly to invite them to your next event!
